What is a moon sign?
Your moon sign is the zodiac sign the Moon was in when you were born. Astrology reads it as your emotional self. The Moon moves through a whole sign in about two and a half days, so the machine needs your birth time, unless the Moon stayed in one sign for that entire day.
The Math
Calculated facts only, worked out the same way the machine does it.
- With a birth time and UTC offset, the machine reads the Moon's position at that minute.
- Without a birth time, it checks the whole calendar day in every time zone. If the Moon stayed in one sign throughout, it names that sign; if the Moon changed sign that day, it says so instead of guessing.
The Machine Says
Lines from the machine's own library, word for word.
The machine’s lines for each moon sign
- Moon in Aries: Your feelings arrive fast and leave fast. You need to act on them, not sit with them.
- Moon in Taurus: Your emotional home is steady and physical: good food, familiar hands, the same chair. When you are upset, you go very still.
- Moon in Gemini: You work out your feelings by talking them through, sometimes with three different people.
- Moon in Cancer: You feel everything at full tide, and you remember every kindness ever done to you.
- Moon in Leo: You need to feel seen by the people you love. A forgotten compliment can sting for days.
- Moon in Virgo: You show love by fixing things, and you worry in neat, private lists.
- Moon in Libra: You need peace around you to feel peace inside. Conflict sits in your stomach.
- Moon in Scorpio: Your feelings run deep and private. Trust is earned slowly and never forgotten.
- Moon in Sagittarius: You need room to breathe. When feelings get heavy, you reach for a horizon.
- Moon in Capricorn: You keep your feelings in order and on schedule, and you cry, if you cry, alone.
- Moon in Aquarius: You feel things at a slight distance, thinking them through before you let them land.
- Moon in Pisces: You soak up every feeling in the room, and sometimes cannot tell which ones are yours.
