What is a sign's modality?
A modality is how a sign moves: cardinal signs start things, fixed signs hold steady, and mutable signs adapt. Each modality holds four signs, one from each element. Cardinal is Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn; fixed is Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius; mutable is Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces.
The Math
Calculated facts only, worked out the same way the machine does it.
- Cardinal: Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn.
- Fixed: Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius.
- Mutable: Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces.
The Machine Says
Lines from the machine's own library, word for word.
How the machine words each modality
- a starter sign: you begin things
- a cardinal sign, built to set things in motion
- a fixed sign: you hold the line once it is drawn
- a fixed sign, steady as a fencepost in a prairie wind
- a changeable sign: you adapt faster than anyone notices
- a mutable sign, water that finds its way around every rock
